INDIA - Dongria Kondh people of India fight against mining on their traditional land
‘We are free, we do not depend on anybody for our food, shelter or daily needs. Townspeople depend on the market for everything. A bottle of drinking water costs fifteen or twenty rupees, a shit costs five rupees, bathing in a bucket or two of water costs ten rupees, eating half a bellyful of food costs fifty! Such is the freedom of an urbanite.’ - member of Dongria Kondh people of India, who are fighting back against proposed bauxite (the precursor to aluminum) strip mining projects in their homeland. Indigenous land-based peoples have the capacity to live in a good way on this planet. We invite you to take the time to consider for yourself - how are you enslaved by the city? How can you fight against that enslavement? Our strategy can be found in the book and at our website: www.deepgreenresistance.org
