"Ahimsa [nonviolence] - Infinite Loving"  Gandhi

Ahimsa [infinite love] is a weapon of matchless potency. It is the summum bonum of life. It is an attitude of the brave, in fact it is their all. It does not come within the reach of a coward. It is no wooden or lifeless dogma but a living and lifegiving force. It is the special attribute of the soul. ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Howdy,

Last week I was arrested for telling the truth. I became one with the sound system at a pipeline industry convention where TransCanada was lecturing on pipeline safety compliance. I chained myself to the loud speaker because I had a message to deliver! [1]

The tar sands industry and its investors are spending billions on dangerous pipelines to open the Canadian tar sands to unbridled exploitation: the Keystone XL, the Northern Gateway, and the Trailbreaker, to name a few….but there’s one thing standing in their way: you. Yes, you!

Grassroots resistance begins with you, and together, we can send a message to TransCanada and their profiteers: Stop scheming to expand Alberta tar sands exploitation and bankrolling Keystone XL.

Investors are becoming uncertain about the future of Keystone XL and that’s why Tar Sands Blockade and our allies are calling for a Week of Action to Stop Tar Sands Profiteers, March 16 – 23.

From my indigenous brothers and sisters in Alberta most impacted by tar sands extraction to the environmental racism of refining in Houston’s toxic East End, TransCanada’s business as usual means death and destruction for the biosphere and our communities. Together we can confront these toxic profiteers by showing up at their offices, public events, and extraction sites to demonstrate that we won’t stop until they do. You don't need to come to Texas or Oklahoma or go to DC to rise up and defend your home!

Extreme energy extraction like mountain top removal, fracking, and tar sands exploitation are fueling climate chaos and disproportionally poisoning low income and communities of color at an alarming rate. Institutional avenues of change –corrupt politicians and regulators – have failed to protect our most impacted, vulnerable communities.

Tar Sands Blockade has done many things to stop KXL, from tree sits to locking ourselves to heavy machinery, and we've asked for help before. But to help us stop KXL now means we must go straight to the folks investing in the projects that are poisoning our friends and families and tell them enough is enough! Investing in Keystone XL is as toxic as the contents of their pipe!

Sign up to plan an action to Stop Tar Sands Profiteers, March 16-23!

To stop the most destructive project on Earth and preserve any hope of a liveable planet, we must put a end to “business as usual.” It’s time to act now and stop those working to poison our world and strip-mine our future. It's time to take direct action to build the world we know is possible.

In Solidarity,

Ramsey Sprague
Tar Sands Blockade

PS. A new direct action group just sprung up in Oklahoma! Great Plains Tar Sands Resistance is brand new and already taking action to stop KXL. They’ve announced a Training Camp March 18-22nd. Sign up today on their website.

'DC City Threatening to Throw Out All my Belongings' Loving

While I was at the library making final preparations for 6 months in chemo prison the DC City guys came by to throw out my belongings.  I'll guess the Canadian Embassy made a complaint.  I bear no grudges.  The City is within their Rights.  I Pray it doesn't come down to my stuff being thrown out with just several weeks before I enter prison, and have the stuff stored.  Hmmmm.

I'll stay on a much shorter leash than I have in recent weeks, as I've been preparing for prison, and fortunately that prep work is all but done.

We'll see.  If someone is out to get me, they will. I'll still leave for 20 min if I need the rest-room and late afternoon for 50 min for the homeless dinner truck.

If they are not out to 'get' me, it will be ok.  We'll see.

I have a 3 hour med cancer screening next week, and a three hour cancer consult the following week.  It will be interesting.  There probably isn't anyone to watch it for me.  :-(

NOTE: The reason I know of the city's visit?  A homeless guy, black, late 60ish, very staunch, very solitary, not 'friendly,' saw the city messing with the stuff and spoke up for me.  I've been here 8 months, and he maybe 15 years, I've heard.  In all but the last 3 weeks he has treated me like pariah.  But while respecting his space, I'm his brother, and when I know of a bad-weather report, I'll quickly pass word to him.  When I receive extra food, I'll offer it to him.  I literally don't look at him for a reply, because that is what I think he expects, someone offering something expecting something in return, even 'thanks.'  I NEVER look for anything in return.  My every breath is given as a brother.  The 'giving' is the Joy - it is the Gift, to Self.  But obviously it has engendered in him a higher level of humanity.  That is the entire reason we are here - to bring Loving into the world.  That is the work of Saving.

Hmmmm. Survival rate Colon, Liver cancer -

Colon Cancer
Colon cancer diagnosis is often delayed due to absence of definite symptoms. The treatment option at this stage include surgical removal of the tumor along with affected surrounding organs. However, this treatment option is not viable in case the cancer has spread to other organs like liver, lungs etc. Five year survival rate for this cancer is about 8 to 15%.

Liver Cancer
It is pretty rare in western countries but quite common in developing countries. If stage 4 liver cancer goes untreated, about 90% of patients will succumb to disease within a year. If a successful liver transplant with no complications has been performed, the patient may leave for another 5 years. About 36% people may live beyond that.

02.07.13 Cancer Update

Pet scan from base of brain to lower thighs completed on the 5th.

Brain scan the 13th.

Meeting with oncologist 18th.

Met with Dr. that did the colonoscopy today. Asked him, 'what stage is my cancer?'  We don't know yet.  It depends on what the PET scan showed about that spot on your liver.  If that is spot is cancer, uh, not so good - stage IV - it has spread.  If that spot is NOT cancer, then maybe not so bad.  Depends on what else the PET scan shows.

Given the current issues, Pr. Obama likely to make global warming center to his SOTU, Organizing for Action... I'd be of more use to our kids if this less than stage IV.  However, not business - Creator's business.  I'm fine with whatever She He It decides [but my preference is as long as I can be given.]

If it is Stage IV, might not be worth the resources for the chemo - too little upside.  I'll inquire on the 18th, and reevaluate then.
