Peters was born in Baltimore, Maryland. He went to Severn School for High School and attended Cornell University, receiving a bachelor's degree in civil engineering in 1965, and a master's degree in 1966. He then studied business at Stanford Business School, receiving an M.B.A. and Ph.D.. In 2004, he also received an honorary doctorate from the State University of Management in Moscow.
From 1966 to 1970, he served in the United States Navy, making two deployments to Vietnam as a Navy Seabee, then later working in the Pentagon. From 1973 to 1974, he worked in the White House as a senior drug-abuse advisor, during the Nixon administration. Peters has acknowledged the influence of military strategist Colonel John Boyd on his later writing.
From 1974 to 1981, Peters worked as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company, becoming a partner and Organisation Effectiveness practice leader in 1979, and then in 1981, he went solo and became an independent consultant.
In 1990, Tom Peters was honoured by the British Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) as one of the world's Quality Gurus, and has been awarded the number 3 rank on the international Leadership Gurus survey for 2008. The “Leadership Gurus 30” award, by Global Gurus International identifies the top Leadership professionals in the world by merit and public voting.

GOOD NEWS!!! The Truth is: Life, out of Love, Sacrifices for JOY
Gospel as we know means "Good News!" But what is the good news??????? Well, maybe as the cHURCH says it is that one can go to Heaven after death. I've never believed this and I never will. I've always believed that it had to do with THIS life, THIS earth, and I've been sure of it because the more I've joined Jesus in His work the more heavenly my life has been. But, I believed there was an answer to the question - What's the Good News? And I couldn't express it. NOW I CAN!!!!!!!!!!!

TRUTH IS: LIFE OUT OF LOVE, SACRIFICES FOR HUMANITY, FOR JOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "If you lose [sacrifice] your life you gain it; if you hold on to your life [refuse to sacrifice it] you lose it!!!!!!!!!" Jesus.
Now I can articulate it!!!!!!! Now maybe I can learn to express it beyond my own actions, before I pass on!!!!!!! Boy, that would be great!

THE BOTTOM LINE: WAGE LOVE, PROFIT HUMANITY, REAP JOY
1. Wage Love - this is what you were designed to do - as is all life - to Wage Love/Creation/Goodness.
2. Profit Humanity - avoid the murderous lie that our "family" is some subset of Humanity. Every single one of History's heroes sets the lie to this - King, Gandhi, Jesus, Romero.... Avoid the cancerous lie of western civilization, aided and abetted by the cHURCH that it is OK to Profit FROM others. This is a direct perversion of Jesus teaching and life. Life PROFITS OTHERS. Period.
3. Reap the uninterrupted flow of the chemical/psychological coctail Joy - Heaven, "Our Father's Kingdom," Nirvana... by whatever name.
There is not much else that the greats teach. There is not much else to know.
Will waste a lifetime, like me, discovering this path?
Will you discover it and walk the path now in time to lead others?

THE RELENTLESS PURSUIT OF JOY IS THE ONLY HOPE OF SALVATION
- An inescapable aspect of the human condition is that we cannot NOT seek our greatest self interest.
- An ALMOST inescapable aspect of our Religion of Consumerism is that WE ARE TOTALLY MISINFORMED ABOUT OUR SELFINTEREST. We've been told that PLEASURE is the ultimate, when in fact it is JOY.
- JOY is the FUEL of the PERPETUAL LIFE/LOVE/TRUTH/SALVATION engine. No? If not there is no hope. If not Jesus was wrong; King was wrong; Gandhi was wrong.
